Johannesburg – The once admirable love story between renowned hip-hop artist Siyabonga "Slikour" Metane and his wife Melissa Wilkinson has abruptly concluded, leaving a trail of shattered hopes and a lavish Sandton mansion at the center of their split.
Sunday World reported the pair reached an arrangement, with Metane agreeing to buy out Wilkinson's share of their shared home in the upscale suburb. A confidential source close to the separated couple revealed Metane will pay Wilkinson no less than R250,000 to vacate their marital residence.
As part of the agreement, ownership of the house will be transferred solely into Metane's name upon finalization of the divorce. The source, requesting anonymity, clarified Wilkinson will live in the house with their child for twelve months while Metane provides her the settled amount.
"Metane has agreed to pay half of the settlement amount within 12 months of the divorce, with the remaining balance of approximately R150 000 to be paid within seven days of Wilkinson vacating the property," the source revealed.
Should Wilkinson choose to remain in the house beyond her allotted duration of 12 months, payment of a monthly rental of fifteen thousand rand to Metane becomes obligatory. Metane will also transfer ownership of the vehicle he purchased for Wilkinson to her name on top of the financial settlement. The 'out-going celebrity's wife' will also retain possession of artwork, antiques and fine glassware and plates that were presented by family and comrades as well. Sentimental items and creations that uphold the recollection of relations shall also remain in her hands as part of the
"While we are saddened that Siyabonga and Melissa have decided to part ways, we wish them luck and hope that during the 12-month period they will spend together under one roof after the divorce, they can reignite their spark and find their way back to each other," the source said.
The couple's split comes after years of turmoil within their relationship with the woman accusing her celebrity husband of abusing her as well as cheating on her with other women. According to Wilkinson, she suffered emotional, financial and mental torment at the hands of her husband, who concentrated more on advancing his ambitions and career while forgetting about nurturing their bond. Metane often sidelined Wilkinson in familial choices and failed to include her perspective on marital issues, she claimed.
The source also revealed that Wilkinson accused Metane of having multiple extramarital affairs and said such actions had eroded her love, respect and affection for him. With his behaviour eroding the foundation of their union, trust vanished and Wilkinson felt they had grown irreconcilably apart, leading to their determination to separate.
