Former Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green-Nxumalo, and her husband, businessman Ze Nxumalo, have announced they are expecting their first child – a clear proof that the couple is enjoying tlof tlof.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2022 at the exquisite Quoin Rock Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, shared the exciting news on social media on Monday.
Green-Nxumalo shared a video of the couple, with the caption: "I could not have asked for a better gift on my 30th birthday. What a blessing we have been given."
The former Miss SA, who represented South Africa in the 2018 Miss Universe competition, was placed as the first runner-up. She and Ze announced their engagement in April 2021 after being together since 2018.
The couple celebrated their traditional umembeso ceremony in October 2021 and had the umabo ceremony in 2022. Green-Nxumalo's umembeso dress sparked controversy, with an upcoming fashion designer, Bayanda Khathini of Bayanda Khathini Clothing, accusing the designer of the dress, Sello Medupe of Scalo Designer, of plagiarism.
The situation escalated to the point where Khathini threatened to seek legal action if Medupe did not address the situation. "I woke up this morning to the sound of rain, and I remember thinking this was God showering us with His blessings. It might be a muddy day, but so it will be.
“Then, at 11am, just as our event started, the clouds gave way, and the beauty of my home town revealed itself as the sun shone down on us.
“I’m so happy to have introduced my new family and friends to Paarl,” she wrote.
Green-Nxumalo and her husband celebrated their second anniversary earlier this year, with Green-Nxumalo sharing a post on social media revealing memories of them as a married couple. She wrote in the caption: "Every love story is distinctive, one-of-a-kind, messy and lovely, but ours is my favourite. Happy second anniversary, my love. Here's to more loving, laughing, and dancing together."
Ze Nxumalo is a serial entrepreneur, with a background in business and a passion for innovation. His father is a professor, while his mother is a decorated academic. Ze began his entrepreneurial journey by managing a fleet of Uber cars while still a student, quickly expanding from one to four vehicles with eight drivers. He then pivoted to broader business opportunities and has served on several companies as a shareholder.
Following the announcement of their pregnancy, many took to the comments to share their joy.
"What a blessing! Congratulations Tam and Ze," commented Bryoni Govender.
Also in the comment section was another former Miss SA, Shudufhadzo Musida, who wrote: "Congratulations and Happy Birthday!"
Meanwhile, newly crowned Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux commented: "Yes, yes, yes! So happy for you Tam!"
