"I was at the airport on time, but the airline did not communicate or display flight information on the airport screens," she said in the video. "I urge South Africans to stop supporting this airline."
However, Khumalo's plea for support was met with a wave of indifference and even mockery from social media users. Many expressed little sympathy for the singer, with some even expressing satisfaction that she missed her flight.
"@Unexpressed0" commented, "We stand with the sister behind the desk lo sisi we India we don't know her."
"@Chick9Chick" wrote, "Why would they not announce that flight number what what is boarding?? I would be so pissed off as well, especially if early at the airport Yhuuuuu."
"@Buja3D" added, "Anything that involves that one nje🤮🚮 may she miss all the flights except the one to Jesus's home."
"@Bongani_Wale" commented, "So Kelly Khumalo thinks South Africans sympathise with her? South Africans will buy flowers for this airline to annoy her. South Africans hate Kelly Khumalo."
The reaction from social media highlights the complex relationship between Khumalo and the South African public. While she enjoys a loyal fanbase, she is also frequently the subject of criticism and controversy, often linked to her involvement in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case.
This latest incident has further fuelled the debate surrounding Khumalo's public image and her relationship with her fans. While some sympathise with her frustration, many seem to have lost patience with her, highlighting the deep divisions in public opinion surrounding the singer.
It remains to be seen whether Khumalo's call for a boycott will resonate with South Africans.
The incident comes just a few days after another celebrity, former Ukhozi FM presenter Ngizwe Mchunu also caused a scene before being barred by Flysafair from flying with them again.
