The nation was left heartbroken when veteran actor Menzi Ngubane passed away in March 2021 after suffering a stroke at his home. He was 56.

Two years later, his widow, Sikelelwa Sishuba, continues to grieve his loss, her heart still heavy with the weight of his absence.

On what would have been his birthday, Sikelelwa took to social media to share a poignant message for her late husband, accompanied by pictures of him. Her words, raw and heartfelt, capture the depth of her love and the enduring pain of his loss.

"The day God called your name, it broke my heart in two but Heaven needed an angel, and the one he picked was you. I wish he could’ve waited and let you stay with me, but you have left memories in my heart and that’s where they’ll always be," she wrote.

Sikelelwa's words are laced with a longing for a time that can never be. She wishes she could rewind the clock, just to hold him one last time, to feel his presence once more.

"I just wish I could rewind the clock or make it turn real slow so that I could hug you one more time before you go. No matter how much time will pass, I will miss you every day, keep shining bright in heaven Nomafu so you can light my way. Happy heavenly birthday Dali," she penned.

The pain of loss is a heavy burden to bear, and Sikelelwa's words paint a vivid picture of the emotional rollercoaster she has been navigating since Menzi's passing. She has spoken openly about the challenges she and her children face, the constant reminder of his absence that lingers in their lives.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE previously, Sikelelwa revealed the raw pain her children experience, particularly her younger son who has struggled to cope with the loss of his father.

"It's still difficult. Every morning I wake up in disbelief that he's really gone. It's unbelievable and still hurts as if it happened yesterday. At least I'm better now because I can speak about him without crying," she shared.

"The children are struggling, the younger one even lost weight. He doesn't have an appetite. It's bad but we're trying to cope as best as we can. The void he left won't close, but I have to be strong for the children."

The grief felt by Sikelelwa and her children is a stark reminder of the impact Menzi's loss has had on their lives. Their story highlights the enduring pain of losing a loved one, especially when that loved one was a father, a husband, and a pillar of strength.
