The South African entertainment and spiritual world is in mourning following the passing of Monde Junior Shange, the three-year-old son of sangoma and television personality Gogo Skhotheni and her estranged husband, Monde Shange.

Monde Junior passed away on Monday, 2 September 2024, at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital. The news was confirmed by Gogo Skhotheni in a statement released to ZiMoja, where she expressed the profound sadness felt by both the Motsoeneng and Shange families.

"It is with profound sadness that the Motsoeneng and Shange families confirm the passing of Monde Jr Shange. Monde Jr departed this life at 15:00 on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital," she said.

"The families kindly request privacy as they navigate this deep and painful loss. We ask for your understanding and compassion in giving them the space they need during this difficult time of grieving."

Monde Junior's passing comes after a long and difficult journey marked by health challenges. Born prematurely after a seven-month pregnancy, he faced numerous complications from the start.

"Monde Jr was born without the tube that transports food to the stomach, had many surgeries, and used a machine to eat. God is testing the wrong woman," Gogo Skhotheni shared in a previous interview.

Despite the hardships, Gogo Skhotheni has always maintained a strong faith, expressing her unwavering love for her son.

"God made a joke game, AmaDlozi kept quiet, they saw me in pain daily but they all did nothing. My faith is not shaken even by a snake, they know I would cross the ocean for them," she said.

The past few years have been particularly challenging for Gogo Skhotheni and her family. Monde Junior has spent almost two years in the intensive care unit, while her relationship with Monde Shange has been strained by abuse allegations.

"A lot has happened. My son has been sick for a long time, but I have given my life to God and will still heal," she said.

Gogo Skhotheni's heartfelt messages on social media about her son's struggles have touched many hearts. She shared a poignant message on his second birthday, acknowledging the difficult time he had been through.

"Monde Jr, you've been at that hospital bed ever since. You know all the nurses, doctors, and cleaners; we are now planning your second birthday. Are you still there?" she wrote.

The loss of Monde Junior is a devastating blow to Gogo Skhotheni, Monde Shange, and their families. However, the outpouring of support from fans and the entertainment industry has been overwhelming, with many sending their condolences and prayers during this difficult time.
