Limpopo-born actor Mahlatsi Moropo, known for his role in the popular SABC1 soapie Skeem Saam, is having a year to remember. The 20-year-old has celebrated wins both in his personal life and career, marking a significant milestone with the purchase of his first car.
Moropo, who plays the character of "Leeto" in the soapie, shared his excitement with Daily Sun, revealing that he had always dreamt of owning a car.
"This is my first car. Fun fact, I’ve given her a name already. I call her Snowy. It still feels unreal. I got my new baby a few days back and still feel excited when I get inside," he said.
The actor explained that owning a car was a top priority on his bucket list for the year. "I wanted to own a car for comfort and convenience. It was on my bucket list for this year and marking it has made me so happy," he added.
Moropo's joy is amplified by another significant achievement: winning the Viewer's Choice Best Actor award at the Royalty Soapie Awards last month. "Winning the Royalty Soapie Award is a surreal experience, and I'm still pinching myself to see if it's real. It's an incredible honour to be recognised by the industry and peers this way," he shared.
The actor expressed a sense of pride and accomplishment, acknowledging the hard work and dedication that led to these successes.
"I also feel a sense of gratitude for the opportunities I've had and the people who supported me along the way. It's a reminder that I'm exactly where I'm meant to be, doing what I love. It gives me a confidence boost and motivates me to keep pushing boundaries and striving for even greater heights," he said.
Moropo's journey to success has been marked by a remarkable transformation. He reflected on his aspirations five years ago, admitting that he wasn't sure where his path would lead.
"I was still in the process of learning and growing, and didn't have a clear picture of where I'd be today. While I had aspirations and goals, I wasn't sure how they'd unfold. Looking back, I'm amazed how far I've come and how much I've accomplished," he said.
The actor attributes his success to the unwavering support of his fans.
"Your love and support mean everything. Your kind words and messages of encouragement have made a significant impact. You're the driving force behind the success. Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration and motivation. Your support is a gift, and it's appreciated more than words can express," he said.
