Patrick Seleka, the 32-year-old actor known for his role as Katlego on SABC1's popular soapie Skeem Saam, has had a transformative year. Late in 2023, he publicly acknowledged his past emotional abuse of his wife, issuing a heartfelt apology in a video message.
“I have been very, very, very emotionally abusive, I should say, and it took me a while to see that. I'm coming out to her, and to her family, and to everyone that I humbly apologise for everything that I've done,” he stated at the time.
While Seleka prefers not to dwell on the past, he acknowledges the significant events of the year, both positive and negative. He has clearly moved forward, finding happiness in a new relationship.
Speaking to Daily Sun, he shared: “The past year has been perfect for me. It has been great, I must say. Life has moved on, and I'm happy now (he said while pointing to his new partner, Tshepang).”
This new chapter in his personal life seems to be a source of considerable joy and contentment.
Beyond his personal life, Seleka has achieved significant professional milestones. His culinary passion has led to the creation of The-Cook-A-Long, a Netflix cooking show that has garnered a prestigious nomination for a South African Film and Television Award (Safta).
"This is my first award nomination, and it’s one of the biggest nominations, and I’m proud," he expressed, visibly proud of this achievement.
The show was nominated in the Best Lifestyle Programme category and was inspired by his Skeem Saam character, a testament to the creative synergy between his on-screen persona and his real-life interests.
"The cooking show was inspired by my character on Skeem Saam. I fell in love with it. My bosses there told me to try it and see what I can do, and that show is what we gave birth to,” he explained.
Seleka's talents extend beyond acting and cooking. He is also a DJ, currently working on a new EP.
"I'm working on my EP, which will be coming out soon. It's not complete yet, but we hope to finish it soon. I don't want to reveal too much about it until it's ready, but it's coming soon," he revealed while hinting at exciting new musical projects on the horizon.
