Nongoma – The Zulu royal house is abuzz with speculation and intrigue as insiders reveal that Nomzamo Myeni, the fiancée of AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini Zulu, is reportedly "distressed" and "losing her cool" amid rumours of a potential replacement.

Myeni was set to become King Misuzulu's third wife in a traditional wedding ceremony last month, but the event was abruptly called off just a week before it was scheduled to take place. Sources indicate that a delegation was dispatched to Myeni's home with a cow as a "peace offering" for the cancelled nuptials.

However, a new twist has emerged: a princess from Mpumalanga recently arrived at the royal residence, allegedly to accept a proposal from the king. According to a source within the royal household, the princess arrived with her family, escorted by heavy security.

The source explained that the princess, who is said to be in her twenties, and her family presented themselves at the royal house, outlining their reasons for coming. The king reportedly acknowledged that he knew them.

"This is called ukumisa iduku, which happens when you are approached by a Zulu man," the source explained. "Sometimes he does not come directly to you, but he goes through your elders. In agreement, you don’t talk to him; you uyomisa iduku [accept the proposal] by going to the man’s home. From the Zulu family side, there were two uncles and some family members."

The source added: "It is over for her [Myeni]. It means the time the king tried to kick her out, he knew that people were coming. [But] … it means she was tipped off by someone because she came rushing (to the royal home) while they were still there. She saw everything, and that is when she started fighting. This woman is just putting herself through hell."

Insiders claim that the king had expressed reservations about marrying Myeni even before the wedding was cancelled. Despite being seen seated next to the king at the 146th anniversary of the Battle of Isandlwana in Nquthu last month, sources say Myeni arrived alone.

Prior to the wedding cancellation, sources revealed that the king was scheduled to travel to Eswatini on the day of the wedding to fulfil certain traditional rituals. The king did indeed travel to Eswatini.

One insider alleged that the king had initially evicted Myeni from the royal house before his departure, but she later returned.

Another source confirmed Myeni's determination to remain at the royal house, despite the presence of a new woman in the king's life. The source also noted that Myeni still retains her security detail.

"There is a new woman, and the king does all the ups and downs with her. He even took her with him to Eswatini. But she is not the usual type he goes for," the source revealed.

Amidst all the drama, sources say that the king continues to visit Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela Zulu, from whom he is currently seeking a divorce after filing papers at the Pietermaritzburg High Court last month.

Eswatini Visit and Rituals

A source within the royal house disclosed that during the king's trip to Eswatini last month – the same weekend that his traditional wedding was supposed to take place – he was unable to complete his rituals due to illness and had to cut the trip short due to other pressing family matters.

The Eswatini family reportedly complained, stating that traditional beer and cows had already been prepared for the king.

The king is said to have returned to Eswatini on 7 February, this time accompanied by the Mpumalanga princess, whom he went to introduce. They returned on Tuesday after completing the rituals.

Changes in the Royal Kitchen

Adding another layer to the intrigue, it is said that the king's long-serving male chef was dismissed by Myeni almost a month ago, and she temporarily took over the cooking duties before hiring a new female chef.

"According to tradition, the king is not supposed to be cooked for by a woman because she goes through menstruation. But now MaMyeni has taken over, and she is calling the shots," the source claimed.

Royal House Silent

Efforts to obtain a comment from the royal house were unsuccessful. The individual identified as the new royal house spokesperson denied holding the position, stating that it was still vacant. He initially requested to be called back later but subsequently declined to comment and hung up.
