The South African entertainment scene is buzzing with the news of a major shake-up on Mzansi Wethu's popular soapie, "Sibongile & The Dlaminis".

Veteran actress Thembi Mtshali-Jones is stepping into the role of Deliwe, previously played by Slindile Nodangala, who was fired from the production last month.

The reason for Nodangala's departure? Sources say she requested a character name similar to that of her pastor be changed, allegedly to honour him. While the production team declined her request, the incident ultimately led to her dismissal from the show.

Mtshali-Jones, known for her roles in iconic shows like "Sgudi 'Snaysi", "Stokvel", "Silent Witness", and "Imbewu", is a familiar face to South African audiences. Her talent and experience make her a perfect fit for the role of Deliwe, the stepmother of Sibongile in the soapie.

The production team is keeping details about Mtshali-Jones' arrival under wraps, but sources close to the production have confirmed that she has already begun filming her scenes. The official announcement of her joining the cast is expected to be made early next year, with the production team planning a grand reveal.

"They want to make a big reveal next year," a source close to the production team told ZiMoja.

Mtshali-Jones's arrival on "Sibongile & The Dlaminis" marks a reunion with Duma Ndlovu, the producer of the show. Ndlovu, a renowned filmmaker, producer, and playwright, has been a mentor to Mtshali-Jones, encouraging her to explore her artistic potential beyond acting.

"She is the perfect candidate for the role vacated by Nodangala," a source close to the production team told ZiMoja. "They are very happy to have her on board."

Just two weeks ago, Ndlovu honoured Mtshali-Jones and fellow legendary actress Leleti Khumalo at the 2nd annual Golden Elephant Lifetime Achievement Awards ceremony held at the Market Theatre. This recognition further highlights the respect and admiration Mtshali-Jones commands within the South African entertainment industry.

"Sibongile & The Dlaminis" has already seen the addition of another veteran actress, Baby Cele, in its second season. Cele, who plays the role of Deliwe's sister on the soapie, joined the cast a fortnight ago after completing a world tour as a songstress.

The arrival of Mtshali-Jones is sure to bring a fresh dynamic to the show, adding to the already compelling storyline and diverse cast.

With her vast experience and undeniable talent, Mtshali-Jones is poised to captivate audiences and become a beloved addition to the "Sibongile & The Dlaminis" family.
