The highly anticipated Spirit of Praise Volume 10 Tour is set to bring together some of South Africa's biggest gospel stars, including the two names that have been dominating headlines for their very public feud: Thinah Zungu and Dumi Mkokstad.
The two gospel giants, who were once close friends and collaborators, will be sharing the stage for the first time since news of their fallout broke. The event will take place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban on Saturday, 7 September.
The news of their rift emerged after the Celebrity Games in August 2024, where Zungu publicly accused Mkokstad of being stubborn. Mkokstad, in turn, hinted at having "big secrets" about Zungu that could shock thewhole country if revealed.
Despite the tension, both singers have confirmed their participation in the Spirit of Praise tour. Zungu, known for his hit song "Wanqaba Umusa," has maintained that he will be at the ICC to perform and preach the gospel.
"I'm not his enemy, that's number one. And I'm not going to ICC for him, but I'll be there to entertain gospel fans and preach the gospel," said Zungu.
Mkokstad, known for his hit song "Ulwandle," expressed his gratitude for being part of the tour, but declined to comment on his relationship with Zungu.
"I'm not going to talk about my relationship with Thinah. All I'm grateful for is that bab'Dube (Spirit of Praise leader Bishop Benjamin Dube) gave me the opportunity of being part of this year's tour. It's very big for me," said Mkokstad.
The Spirit of Praise gospel group, led by Bishop Benjamin Dube, has been a platform for nurturing the talent of popular gospel singers such as Xoli Mncwango and Mpumi Mtsweni.
The group is set to tour across Mzansi, bringing their unique blend of gospel music and inspirational messages to audiences nationwide.
While the public awaits their performance, the question remains: will Zungu and Mkokstad address their feud on stage? Or will they choose to focus on delivering an inspiring performance for their fans?
