The popular South African soapie, Scandal, has been shaken by a new storyline involving Dintle Nyathi, played by actress Mapaseka Koetle. Dintle, who has recently found love with Nhloso, is facing threats from his former flame, Busisiwe.
Busisiwe, unable to accept the end of her relationship with Nhloso, has taken to stalking Dintle and Nhloso, attempting to sow seeds of doubt and fear. She's gone so far as to make them believe that Nhloso's former enemy, Raymond, wants them dead.
Her actions are described as "psycho" by a source close to the production, and she is portrayed as a dangerous woman capable of violence.
"If Dintle and Nhloso aren’t careful, they may find themselves in trouble. Busisiwe’s the kind of woman who’s capable of killing someone," warns the source.
While Dintle navigates this dangerous situation, another soapie, Uzalo, is dealing with a different kind of drama. Nomathemba, a character known for her patience, is finally reaching her limit with her boyfriend, Screwdriver. The couple has been together for seven years, but despite her desire for commitment, Screwdriver has yet to propose.
Nomathemba's frustration has reached a boiling point, and she's no longer holding back her feelings.
"They’ve been together for seven years, but there’s no sign of a future together. She’s now lost respect for him and doesn’t speak to him kindly," reports a source close to the production.
Screwdriver, in a bid to salvage the relationship, has taken the unusual step of seeking counselling at Nomathemba's church. This is a significant move for him, as he's not a churchgoer. It demonstrates his willingness to work on the relationship, but it remains unclear if it will be enough to appease Nomathemba.
The source cautions against forcing a man into marriage, suggesting that it's a recipe for disaster.
"She may be gatvol and losing patience, but you can’t force a man to marry you when he’s not ready. Screwdriver has made it clear he’s not ready, and one of the reasons is that he’s not financially stable. If she can’t wait for him to get on his feet, she must leave," the source advises.
Meanwhile, Uzalo is also dealing with the consequences of a young man's ambition and jealousy. Tiro, a character driven by his own desires, has poisoned his father's shaving cream, nearly killing him. He then framed his brother, Thaps, for the crime, out of jealousy for the close bond Thaps had with their father.
Tiro's actions have had devastating consequences for his brother. Thaps has been kicked out of their home and disinherited, all because of Tiro's wickedness. A source describes Tiro as a "monster son," highlighting the depths of his evilness.
Another character facing consequences for her actions is Hlelo from Uzalo. Once a lover of Sbu, a reformed criminal, Hlelo has now found herself in jail for statutory rape. She's also been accused of stealing hair products from her fellow inmates and lying to her former boyfriend about being pregnant with his child.
A source suggests that Hlelo needs to "sort herself out and repent," highlighting the stark contrast between her past relationship with Sbu, who has found solace in church and music, and her current situation.
