Real reasons why Umkhokha: The Curse fired its THREE lead actors REVEALED… There may be no Third Season

Johannesburg – The popular Mzansi Magic drama series, Umkhokha: The Curse, is facing a period of significant uncertainty, with reports of actor dismissals and the looming question of whether the show will even return for a third season.

While the production is currently completing its second season, the future remains unclear, adding to the already tense atmosphere behind the scenes.

Adding to the uncertainty surrounding the show's future is the revelation that three lead actors have been dismissed from the production. Sources close to the production have confirmed that Msizi Njapha (Khulekani), Angel Zuma (Nomkhosi), and Kwanele Mthethwa (Nobuntu) have all been let go. While Zuma’s departure was officially attributed to her securing a role in The Lion King in Toronto, Canada, sources suggest this was not the whole story.

According to a reliable source, the dismissals were a result of alleged unprofessional conduct and “diva tendencies” displayed by the actors during filming. The source specifically cited Msizi Njapha’s frequent tardiness and alleged appearances on set under the influence of alcohol, claiming these incidents caused significant delays in production.

“These are the same reasons why Msizi was fired from The Lion King. These were hard decisions to make for producers. They are great actors, but they had to let them go,” the source revealed.

This account paints a picture of behind-the-scenes friction and challenges in managing the production. The dismissals highlight the potential consequences of unprofessional behaviour in the demanding world of television production. The impact on the show's storyline and overall quality remains to be seen.

Adding to the uncertainty, the future of Umkhokha: The Curse itself is currently hanging in the balance. The production is nearing the end of its second season, but there has been no official announcement from Mzansi Magic regarding a renewal for a third season. A source close to the production stated that Multichoice, the parent company, has yet to formally communicate its decision to the show's producers and creators.

When contacted for comment, Multichoice publicist Portia Hlongwane stated that they were unaware of the reports of actor dismissals or departures. “Let me find out for you. But Msizi’s storyline is still part of the show,” she responded. This statement suggests a potential discrepancy in information between the production team and Multichoice, further highlighting the confusion and uncertainty surrounding the show's future.

In a separate development, the show has already experienced significant cast changes this season. The return of Mbuso Khoza as Maphalala, after two previous departures, has been a significant talking point. Khoza, a popular figure amongst viewers, not only acts but also contributes significantly to the show's music, further cementing his role as a key figure in the production. His return followed considerable fan demand after his character was temporarily played by Langalakhe Zwane, who later left the show. However, even Khoza's return does not fully alleviate the concerns surrounding the show's future, given the recent dismissals and the lack of clarity regarding season three.
