Johannesburg — Award-winning actress Faith Nelisiwe Sibiya is poised to captivate audiences once again as she joins the cast of the popular e.tv show Scandal!. Her much-anticipated debut as Sanda will air on Tuesday, 5 November, and promises to bring fresh drama and emotional depth to the series.

Sibiya, widely recognised for her compelling portrayal of Mbali in Durban Gen, is excited to step into the role of Sanda, who re-enters the life of Thapelo, stirring up unresolved issues and igniting new conflicts. The storyline is set to delve into the complexities of co-parenting, with Thapelo meeting his son for the very first time. This pivotal moment is expected to evoke strong emotions and add layers to the narrative.

Reflecting on her return to the small screen, Sibiya expressed her enthusiasm for joining Scandal!, a production she greatly admires for its professionalism and strong reputation in the industry. “It’s exciting. It feels like TV is definitely my home since one of the jobs that I have done with Durban Gen where I had a lead role which was also playing on e.tv. It feels good,” she shared with Daily Sun.

The actress, who has spent considerable time in Durban, is now relocating back to Johannesburg, where Scandal! is filmed. “I think I'm mixed emotionally because at some point I was based in Durban for a long time but now I'm moving back to Joburg because Scandal! is shot in Joburg,” she added.

Sibiya's excitement is further amplified by Scandal!’s recent accolade at the South African Film and Television Awards (Safta), where it won the award for Most Popular TV Soap or Telenovela. “It means I'm on a good path, especially being part of a big production such as Scandal!. It shows that I actually do have this thing, and these people do believe in me,” she remarked.

The journey to this point has not been without its challenges. Sibiya candidly addressed the fierce competition that characterises the entertainment industry, noting how securing roles can often feel elusive.

“Getting a gig is always a blessing, especially in this industry where it’s so competitive. We face countless rejections before landing that one ‘yes,’” she reflected.

As Nelisiwe steps into her new role, viewers can expect a gripping narrative that explores the intricacies of family dynamics and personal growth. The introduction of Sanda is sure to add a new dimension to Scandal!, engaging viewers with relatable themes and emotional storytelling.
