Orlando Pirates’ rising star, Relebohile Mofokeng, has found himself in the spotlight once again, but this time it’s not for his skills on the pitch.

The 20-year-old footballer, nicknamed iPresident yama 2k forward, has become the subject of a popular amapiano song titled Mofokeng, performed by Shimi-Boi, Mgiftoz, and DK. However, the song has sparked drama, with Mofokeng’s father and manager, Sechaba Mofokeng, reportedly unhappy about its release.

The track, which has been making waves on social media and even featured on TV performances, celebrates the young footballer’s talent and growing fame. But despite its popularity, Sechaba Mofokeng has allegedly refused to endorse the song, leaving the artists in a difficult position.

According to sources close to the matter, the amapiano trio has been trying to reach out to Sechaba for months to seek permission to take the song to the next level. “They reached out to him to ask for permission to work with them, but they didn’t show interest. They’ve been reaching out for the past months, but there’s no response from Sechaba,” a source revealed.

The source added that the artists are eager to film a music video and further promote the song, which they believe has the potential to become even bigger. However, without Sechaba’s approval, their plans are on hold. “The guys want to film a music video and take further steps with the song because it’s already big and has the potential to become even bigger. But they aren’t showing interest,” the source said.

In a voice note shared by another source, Sechaba can be heard expressing his frustration about the song’s release without his consent. “I see you’ve already decided for yourselves that you’d continue with the song even though we didn’t agree. I’ve seen the song on social media as well, and it shows that you’re continuing. I don’t know what to do anymore,” he said in the recording.

Shimi-Boi, one of the artists behind the song, confirmed that they have been trying to resolve the issue. “I think it’s a misunderstanding and it’s not that deep. On our side, we’re working on the issue. We’re just waiting for them to get back to us, but they haven’t done that. We’ve been trying to communicate in terms of going forward with the song,” he told Daily Sun.

Shimi-Boi explained that they are seeking consent and a potential partnership with the Mofokeng family. “We wanted to get consent from them and maybe have some sort of a partnership,” he said. When asked if Sechaba had given a reason for not endorsing the song, Shimi-Boi replied, “That’s the thing. They haven’t explained what’s stopping them. They say they’re busy with paperwork on their side. But I don’t have much information. They’re communicating with my team.”

However, when contacted for comment, Sechaba denied having any issues with the song. “There’s no issue. This is the first time I’ve heard about me having an issue. The guys who made the song even have a photo with Relebohile,” he said.

When asked if he was aware that the artists needed his approval to take further steps with the song, Sechaba responded, “We’ve already spoken about that.”

Despite the drama, the song continues to gain traction, with fans celebrating Mofokeng’s rise as one of South Africa’s most promising football talents. The young Orlando Pirates player has become a household name, and the song is a testament to his growing influence both on and off the field.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the Mofokeng family and the artists will reach an agreement. For now, the song Mofokeng continues to dominate playlists, keeping the young star’s name on everyone’s lips.

Meanwhile, Relebohile Mofokeng remains focused on his football career, aiming to make an even bigger impact in the upcoming matches. His talent and dedication have already earned him a special place in the hearts of Orlando Pirates fans, and this latest drama only adds to his growing legend.
