Ngubane also noted the extent of the damage caused by the fire. "The fire caused some damage to sets and equipment and the full extent thereof is being assessed." The SABC is working closely with Peu Communication Solutions and Sasani Studios to evaluate the situation and determine the full impact on production.

While the injured crew members recover, the SABC has expressed its support. “Our thoughts are with the injured crew members and we wish them a speedy recovery,” said Ngubane.

The incident has affected the "Skeem Saam" team, with the show's publicist, Sumaya Magola, confirming that one crew member suffered injuries and was quickly rushed to hospital for treatment. "I have been made aware of the fire. I can confirm that it is unfortunately true," she told Daily Sun. "My colleague immediately got medical attention in hospital and is recovering very well," she added.

Magola urged concerned fans to remain calm, assuring them that "The worst is over, and we will continue to tell their favourite stories."

City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services spokesman Robert Molaudzi confirmed that two people were treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries on the scene by paramedics. "The fire was contained to one area or room and its cause is still a subject of investigation," he said.

"Skeem Saam," which has been on air since 2011, is a top-rated daily drama featuring a prolific cast including Clement Maosa, Hungani Ndlovu, Mogau Motlhatswi, and Eric Macheru. The incident has undoubtedly affected the team, but they remain committed to continuing production and delivering the storylines that viewers have come to love.
