The tragic deaths of two off-duty Gauteng traffic officers, allegedly a couple, have left the law enforcement community shaken and cracking their heads for answers.

The bodies of a female police officer Neo Jane Kgaba (38) and her Ben 10 cop Dalindyebo Dineka (31) were found lying in the street at Debonair Park in De Deur, Vaal on Saturday, 17 August.

According to reports, the officers had been at an "after tears" gathering where they reportedly had a quarrel before leaving. Gunshots were later heard, and their bodies were discovered.

It is alleged that Kgaba shot and killed Dineka before turning the gun on herself. Dineka sustained four gunshot wounds, while Kgaba suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

Gauteng Traffic Police spokesman Sello Maremane expressed his deep sorrow over the officers' deaths.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our two dedicated traffic officers. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends, family members and colleagues of the officers," said Maremane.

He added, "The officers were known for their unwavering dedication, commitment and served the public with integrity. The department will communicate the details of the memorial and funeral service of the members. We are working closely with law enforcement officers to investigate the details of the case."

When asked if Kgaba had indeed shot her partner, Maremane stated that the matter was subject to investigation.

Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed that De Deur police are investigating a murder and suicide case following the discovery of the two traffic officers' bodies.

This incident comes just weeks after a chilling love triangle involving three police officers unfolded in the tranquil Westernburg township near Polokwane, Limpopo province, leaving three people dead and the entire township in shock.

The tragedy began when a police sergeant, consumed by jealousy and rage, drove to the residence of a former police officer, who was suspected of having an affair with the sergeant's wife, a brigadier. The sergeant opened fire on the former officer, leaving him critically injured.

The scene then shifted to a nearby location where the sergeant's wife was attempting to escape in her car. He pursued her, firing several shots, tragically ending her life. In a final act of despair, the sergeant turned the gun on himself, ending his own life.

“Reports suggest that the police sergeant went to the house of a former police officer and opened fire on him during an altercation. Then he went to the house of the female police officer who tried to escape with her car when she saw him. Unfortunately, the suspect fired several shots at her resulting in her succumbing to the gunshot wounds. The raging police sergeant managed to get inside the senior officer’s car and turned the gun on himself,” said police spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba.

These incidents highlight a disturbing trend of police officers resorting to violence, often driven by jealousy and anger.
