Cape Town – A manhunt is underway for a former Cape Town Spurs soccer coach suspected of the rape and murder of 25-year-old Sinesipho Ncwadi on New Year’s Day.
Ncwadi, a young mother, spent the evening celebrating with friends at the beach before heading home to Dunoon after midnight. The circumstances surrounding how she met her killer remain unclear, but it is known that the suspect is a former soccer coach.
According to Anathi Ncwadi, Sinesipho’s cousin, “She left her friends at the beach and got into a taxi which took her to Dunoon. She was drunk when she went home.” The details of the evening became chillingly clear only hours later.
Anathi continued, “Her friends heard in the afternoon that she didn’t make it home when Sinesipho’s roommate informed them. The roommate then called the friends hours later and said she had been killed.”
The suspect, who had fled to Dunoon to hide at his aunt's house, was temporarily sheltered by the aunt's tenant.
Anathi explained, “The aunt wasn’t at home, so her tenant allowed him to stay for two days. The tenant went to church and left him at his place. When he returned home, the flat was locked and he tried calling the suspect but he couldn’t get through. He decided to get in through the window and made the gruesome discovery of Sinesipho’s naked body, and the flat had been ransacked. She had been strangled.”
It is suspected that the killer may have lured Ncwadi to the flat with the promise of alcohol.
The horrific discovery left the community reeling. Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed that a murder case has been registered. He appealed to the public for assistance in apprehending the suspect, urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to bring the perpetrator to justice. The details of the case are particularly disturbing, given the suspect's background as a soccer coach and the brutal nature of the crime.
