Actor Vuyo Biyela has bowed out of The River a year after joining the popular drama series.
The KwaZulu-Natal-born actor, who played Mlilo Hlophe, described his journey on the series as an amazing experience.
He took to Instagram on Thursday to bid farewell to the character, saying it is not easy to leave.
“I’m typing this long essay with teary eyes, not because I’m sad but because I’m grateful for the opportunity that Tshedza Pictures gave me to showcase my abilities and live this character,” he wrote.
“Mlilo Hlophe was born and a year later he has left the scene. The love he’s received has been nothing short of amazing. The memories we shared, indescribable.”
Biyela, who beams with pride because of his accolades as an actor, said he is not leaving the show empty-handed, citing that he has an award to show that he was a part of magic.
He further thanked his director, who guided him and helped him grow in his craft.
“Today I bid farewell with a Royalty Soapie Award because of the platform that was given to me by the production, and just know that The River will live with me for the rest of my life.
“My fans, I love you so much. Never stop supporting me because in a world full of obstacles and all sorts of challenges, I’ve gained confidence and the drive to do more because of your love and support. May God bless you all.
