Luthando "BU" Mthembu, a former contestant on Big Brother Mzansi and known for his role as Vuyani in Showmax's Adulting, has hinted that the upcoming Season 2 will feature more intense and steamy Intimacy scenes. While Mthembu proudly claims to have more such scenes than the other gents this season, he remains tight-lipped about the specifics.
In Season 2, Mthembu will be sharing the screen with actress Thembi Seete. He expressed admiration for Seete, describing her as a veteran actor and former kwaito star who brings a calm and understanding presence to their scenes together.
Mthembu revealed that many of the scenes they filmed were Seete's first experiences of this nature, and he felt honored to assist her in bringing those moments to life onscreen.
“A lot of the scenes that we did together were her first times. So I felt honoured to have had the opportunity to help her with those experiences onscreen. It was really an honour to work with her,” he said.
Having recently been honored with GQ's Best Dressed On Screen Personality award, Mthembu discussed his approach to portraying Vuyani in the new season. He aimed to fully embody the character, amplifying the confidence and embracing the choices Vuyani makes. Mthembu finds it intriguing how, despite changes, people often remain true to themselves.
Reflecting on his role as Vuyani, Mthembu admitted that he had encountered older women approaching him even before playing the character of a toy boy. He acknowledged that the show has intensified such experiences but expressed gratitude for being mentally prepared, as he had already encountered similar situations in his personal life.
In a previous interview, Mthembu explained that Vuyani's character appeals to the younger generation, particularly those born after 2000, as well as those referred to as "hustlers." He differentiated between Vuyani and himself, describing Vuyani as a shot of tequila while he, BU, is more akin to fine wine. Mthembu drew from personal experiences of different types of love with the women close to him to shape his portrayal of Vuyani.
“The show just intensified the experience. But I’m grateful to God that I was prepared for that because I’ve already experienced it in my life to some degree.”
As Season 2 of Adulting approaches, fans can anticipate more intense and captivating performances from Luthando "BU" Mthembu, as well as the dynamic chemistry between him and Thembi Seete on the screen.
