Businessperson Leeroy Sidambe Faces Financial Woes as Absa Demands Return of Luxury Vehicle
Following a highly publicized breakup with social media influencer Mihlali Ndamase, Leeroy Sidambe, a prominent businessperson, may be starting the new year with significant financial troubles. Absa, a commercial bank, has reportedly demanded that Sidambe return a luxury Land Rover valued at R2 million, which he purchased in November 2020 with financing from the bank.
According to City Press, Absa has taken the matter to the Johannesburg High Court after Sidambe allegedly failed to make the monthly payments of R48,685. The bank claims that Sidambe ignored their letter of demand. Court documents state that if Sidambe fails to surrender the vehicle, the court should authorize the sheriff to take necessary measures to attach, seize, and retrieve the vehicle on behalf of Absa.
The court papers also indicate that the South African Police Service may need to be involved if Sidambe refuses the sheriff access to the vehicles. Meanwhile, Sidambe is also facing a substantial tax debt of R20 million from the SA Revenue Service (Sars), which could lead to the sale of his assets to settle the debt.
Sars has requested that Sidambe take certain actions, including applying for debt suspension if he wishes to dispute the amount. Additionally, Sidambe has been advised to explore the option of compromising a portion of the debt to potentially offer a better return to the fiscus compared to liquidation or other collection measures.
Leeroy Sidambe, who operates a prominent security company under Sakhile Ezweni Group, began dating Mihlali Ndamase before finalizing his divorce from Mary Jane Sidambe. Ndamase, in an interview on Showmax's Unfollowed, expressed that she had no obligation to wait for Sidambe to finalize his divorce, emphasizing that she is not the one who is married.
In response to allegations that she was with Sidambe for his money, Ndamase clarified that she has her own financial independence and questioned whether wealthy men truly respect women. Last month, Ndamase confirmed their split on social media after a video of Sidambe seemingly kissing another woman circulated online.
Attempts to reach Sidambe for comment have been unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
