Dabula rose to fame playing the role of Gadaffi on Generations: The Legacy until 2021. He told viewers he sustained injuries in a "near death situation" and needed time away to heal.
"I was pretty much forced to take a break because I sustained injuries in a near death situation, I could not physically do much. I don't talk much about personal things," he said. While on Generations, and when he was recuperating, he was religiously watching Uzalo. "They're an incredibly generous cast and easy people to work with. This must be something in the water because the whole production team is a great vibe, very welcoming and deeply supportive," he added about working on the production.
Joining Dabula in the Uzalo Season 9 cast are Nonhle Jali, Slie Ndlovu, and Ntokozo Vilakazi, who will bring new layers of intrigue and excitement to the show. Nonhle Jali takes on the role of Thandiwe, a driven and ambitious businesswoman who is unafraid to embrace danger in pursuit of her goals. Slie Ndlovu portrays Xoliswa, a ruthless and dominant businesswoman who stops at nothing to maintain her position in the competitive business world. Ntokozo Vilakazi, on the other hand, will bring to life the character of Mabillion, a complex individual grappling with grief, vengeance, and a troubled mind.
