David Rees, the well-known 7de Laan actor, has faced another setback in his health journey as he finds himself back in the hospital, just a week after his previous release. This setback comes after a heart operation and adds to the challenges he has been facing.
Rees had undergone double bypass open heart surgery in August, following a heart attack he suffered on 30 July. According to his spokesperson, Corlia Strauss, Rees is currently in the ICU battling a lung infection and an irregular heartbeat. Despite the difficulties, Rees remains determined and continues to fight for his recovery.
It's unlikely that he'll be back to film 7de Laan's final episodes, with the cancelled long-running soap currently filming the last of its episodes and will shutter on 24 October at Sasani Studios. The final episode will air on SABC 2 on the day after Christmas on 26 December.
In addition to his health challenges, Rees also faces financial burdens as he does not have medical aid. To help alleviate the burden of his substantial medical expenses, his sister Monique Buttle created a crowdfunding campaign called "David Rees Medical Expenses" on BackaBuddy. The campaign has generated nearly R90,000 in donations, highlighting the support and kindness of others during this difficult time.
"David's journey to full recovery is still under way, making the need for financial assistance more critical than ever," Strauss says. "Each donation, no matter the amount, is a precious act of kindness with profound significance."
