In a devastating incident on Wednesday afternoon, three young children, aged between two and six, tragically lost their lives in Bolobedu, Limpopo, after suffocating inside a parked family car within the premises.

According to Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS), the local clinic alerted the police at approximately 14:00 after the parents brought the three children in a critical condition. The children, two girls and a three-year-old boy, were found unconscious inside a stationary sedan. Sadly, the two girls were already declared deceased upon the police's arrival, while the three-year-old boy passed away the following morning.

Mashaba explained that, based on the information available to the police, the three-year-old boy and his six-year-old sister had gone to play next door with a two-year-old girl. During their playtime, they entered a parked vehicle with all the windows closed. A younger relative discovered them unconscious and immediately alerted the adults. The children were swiftly taken to a local clinic, where two were pronounced dead upon arrival. The remaining three-year-old boy was transferred to Kgapane Hospital and later to Mankweng Hospital, where he was admitted but unfortunately succumbed to the tragedy.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident. Limpopo's Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has ordered a thorough investigation, leaving no stone unturned in determining the cause of these mysterious deaths. She also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines to prevent similar devastating incidents in the future.
